Blaine, Minn. (December 22, 2012) – Minnesota hockey fans will have another great opportunity to see some of the best female hockey players in the world as 36 of the U.S.'s top female hockey players will take part in the 2012 USA Hockey Women's Winter Training Camp, set for Dec. 26-31 in Blaine, Minn. The six-day camp, which will take place at the National Sports Center's (NSC) Schwan Super Rink, will serve as an evaluation camp and training session for the U.S. Women's National Team.

This marks the second time this year the U.S. National Team has gathered for a training camp at the Schwan Super Rink. The annual Women’s National Festival, which included the U18 National Team as well as the older players, was held at the NSC in August.

The Winter Camp roster includes nine players with Minnesota ties:

Gigi Marvin, a member of the 2010 Olympic Team, is from Warroad, Minnesota and played for the University of Minnesota.

Hannah Brandt, a member of the 2012 U.S. World Championship Team, is from Vadnais Heights and plays for the University of Minnesota.

Amanda Kessel, a member of the 2012 U.S. World Championship Team, is from Verona, Wis. and plays for the University of Minnesota.

Jenny Potter, a four time Olympian and the current U.S. team captain, is originally from Edina and currently lives in Coon Rapids. She currently trains at the Schwan Super Rink.

Milica McMillan is from St. Paul and plays for the University of Minnesota.

Lee Stecklein is from Roseville and plays for the University of Minnesota.

Sarah Erickson is from Roseau and played at the University of Minnesota.

In addition, the camp will include 13 of the players who were members of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team that trained at the National Sports Center for the two years leading up to the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. The list of returning Olympians includes Potter, a four-time Olympian, three-time Olympian Julie Chu; two-time Olympian Caitlin Cahow; and one-time Olympians Marvin, Jocelyne Lamoureux, Monique Lamoureux, Hilary Knight, Kasey Bellamy, Karen Thatcher, Lisa Chesson, Jessie Vetter, Molly Schaus and Briane McLaughlin.
