BLAINE, Minn. (January 2, 2013) – Long-time National Sports Center (NSC) employee Kara Radeke has been promoted to the newly-formed position as the NSC’s Senior Director of Soccer and Field Sport Programs. In this role, Radeke will continue as the director of Schwan’s USA CUP, the NSC’s largest single sports property. She will take on added responsibilities to oversee marketing and production of the NSC’s other tournaments and leagues in soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football, and ultimate. She will also oversee bidding for major championship events held at the NSC.
“I could not be more excited to take on this added responsibility at the NSC,” said Radeke. “I’m more than an employee of the NSC. My entire family participates in NSC programs, leagues and classes. So I’m a consumer as well as an employee, and in that role I think I can offer a unique vision of the events and services we’re offering to the public.”
Radeke, quite literally, grew up playing and working at the NSC. While growing up in nearby Circle Pines, she played with the Centennial Soccer Club in Schwan’s USA CUP as a youth player. As a high school student, she was hired to help with some of the NSC’s major events. Her first assignment was to manage an off-site venue for the USA International Hockey Tournament in the mid-90’s. After attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth and graduating from the College of St. Scholastica, she joined the NSC staff on a full-time basis. In addition to her existing role as the Director of Schwan’s USA CUP, she has most recently served as the NSC’s Director of Finance.
Radeke will assume her duties immediately.
