Here is the National Sports Center construction update for Friday, September 8.
105th Ave NE Construction:
This week the contractor is installing water main and storm sewer west of Davenport and extending water main through Davenport to the east. They are also grading the south side in several areas east of Davenport in preparation of placing gravel. The private utilities will be removing poles this week on the north side of 105th Avenue.
Next week they are scheduled to continue installing storm sewer east of Davenport along with grading the entire south side for placement of gravel.
The contractor has discovered that a culvert under the main campus access road (Super Rink access) needs to be replaced. Replacement is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, September 11-13. The access road will need to be completely closed during the replacement process. To compensate, a new road along the south edge of the Spring Lake Park School construction site will be opened up. For this three days only, access to the main NSC campus, including the Schwan Super Rink, will be off Davenport St., meaning that for these three days only, all entrance and exit points to the main part of the campus (south of 105th only) will be off Davenport St.
Access to all other parts of the campus, including the Victory Links Golf Course, and fields on the east and north sides of the campus, is unchanged.

New U3 Parking Lot
A new 250-space parking lot is being built on the site of the old U3 field, immediately south of the NSC Velodrome. This lot will replace parking lost on the Main Lot, due to construction of the Spring Lake Park School District elementary school.
The contractor is nearing completion of this lot. It will be open to the public in the near future. The NSC is building a new entrance door to the west end of the indoor Sports Hall off this parking lot. This will greatly improve parking, pick-up and drop-off access, and pedestrian safety for indoor users. The new access door will be ready for this winter season.
The new parking lot at the west end of the Sports Hall will be open to the public in the near future.
