The National Sports Center (NSC) is installing new sports turf in the indoor Sports Hall! And you can claim your own piece of the old turf – for free.
Here’s how it will work.
The contractor will start removing the old turf during the week of September 11. Pieces of the old turf will be cut to varying sizes between 15 feet wide by 25 feet long. There will still be rubber infill mixed into the turf. The old turf will be available for pick up outside the Sports Hall September 25-28. The contractor will help you load the turf onto your own truck or trailer, but you will need to provide your own transportation.
Pick-up appointments are required. Please contact Darin Thompson, firstname.lastname@example.org, 763.792.7306, to schedule your appointment. Be ready to estimate how much turf you would like to pick up.
And now, a bit about the new turf. We couldn’t be more excited to offer our NSC customers the chance to train and play on the same turf as the pros.
With support from Minnesota United FC, we are installing Field Turf Revolution 360, which is a top-of-the-line turf. It’s called a “FIFA Quality” turf, and is used by top clubs like FC Barcelona, Ajax, Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain. In the U.S., Revolution 360 has been installed in CenturyLink Field, home of the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks, and at numerous colleges and universities across the country, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Washington, Oregon State, Texas Tech and Syracuse. It’s noted for its high-quality playability, safety, natural aesthetics, reduced infill splash, and durability.
The Sports Hall turf should be available for play by the middle of October, and we will use the new turf for our Kick-or-Treat indoor soccer tournament, October 18-23 and for our indoor soccer leagues, which start October 30.
Minnesota United FC will train on the new turf during their winter indoor training schedule.
