Here is the weekly update on the construction taking place on and around the National Sports Center campus.

105th Ave NE reconstruction project.

This week the contractor switched traffic to the south lanes.  Traffic should use caution on the new roadway and slow down as they drive thru the roundabouts.  This will be the configuration of traffic for this stage of construction, and will stay in place for the duration of the winter.

The contractor has removed the pavement from the north lanes.

Next week the contractor will be working on removal of concrete median and curb and gutter on the north side and setting up to start the installation of the new water main.

The speed limit on 105th Ave NE is 30 m.p.h., with a 15 m.p.h. speed limit through the roundabouts.

Traffic on 105th is getting a preview of the new roundabouts.

Minnesota United FC has installed new turf on their Training Grounds, and a fence is under construction.

NSC campus access.

There are two access points off 105th Ave NE: 1) into and out of the Victory Links Golf Course, and 2) into the Schwan Super Rink and Welcome Center lots. This is a right-in, right-out road. This access is in the future roundabout configuration. Traffic exiting the NSC does not need to stop, but does need to yield to through traffic on 105th Ave NE.

The access road off Davenport St. north of the Velodrome is fully open and is a good way to access the Welcome Center and Schwan Super Rink lot.

The access road off Davenport St. south of the Velodrome is open to Parking Lot A (on the site of the old U3 field.) This is the parking lot to use for all Sports Hall activities. Lot B is closed temporarily due to construction on the C fields.

Minnesota United FC Training Grounds.

Minnesota United FC is building two outdoor natural-grass training fields on the former C1 and C2 fields. They installed turf this past week, and the installation of an exterior fence is underway.

The access road between the stadium and the C fields will be intermittently closed due to construction on the C fields.

Stadium artificial turf.

The artificial turf construction project inside the NSC Stadium continues. This week the contractor has been laying a gravel drainage base in preparation for the installation of the actual turf. Eventually, two full-sized fields will be installed. They can be configured either an east-west or north-south configuration.
