Contractor begins laying artificial turf on two full-sized fields inside the NSC Stadium

Blaine, Minn. (December 1, 2017) – On Thursday, November 30, the floor of the National Sports Center Stadium started turning green again.

In the middle of October, the National Sports Center (NSC) began work to replace the historic grass field inside the Stadium with two full-sized artificial turf fields.

The components of site preparation included:

  • Removal of the grass field
  • Removal of the backside bleachers and the remnants of the old running track
  • Leveling the entire stadium field
  • Pouring a concrete curb around the outside edge of the entire field area
  • Installing sub-surface drainage topped with multiple layers of gravel and sand
  • Grading and rolling of the sand surface in preparation for the installation of the actual turf

With site preparation complete, on Thursday, November 30 the contractor began the process of laying out the new artificial turf field.
