Introduction to lacrosse for 5-10 year-olds

The First Sticks program is a specially designed developmental program that incorporates lacrosse skills with motor, physical, mental and social skills in a positive and non-competitive environment. This program also builds self esteem, confidence, promotes sportsmanship and fair play while instilling a love and passion for the game of lacrosse.

Learn basic fundamental skills of lacrosse such as cradling, passing, shooting, scooping, catching, and running with the ball to learn the concept of team play while playing lots of fun games!

First Sticks Beginner: Introduction to lacrosse, no experience necessary. 

First Sticks Intermediate: Take your lacrosse to the next level while learning more advanced skills. Previous lacrosse experience recommended. 


  • Each participant receives a t-shirt
  • Winter and Spring sessions are held indoors in the Sport Expo Center. See the campus map
  • Summer and Fall sessions are held outdoors on our fields, see the field map
  • Low participant to instructor ratio
  • No equipment required, lacrosse sticks are provided
  • Soft tennis balls used, helmet and pads are not used
  • Outdoor non-metal cleats, tennis shoes or similar type athletic shoes recommended

Session Dates

  • Fall I: Tuesday evenings, September 20 - October 11, 2016.
    • Beginner: 6-6:45 p.m.
    • Intermediate: 7-8 p.m.
    • Outdoors on Field C1
  • Winter I: Saturday mornings, February 4-25, 2017
    • Beginner: 11:00 a.m. - Noon
    • Indoors on Field B in the Sports Hall
  • Spring I: Saturday mornings, April 1-22, 2017
    • Beginner: 11:00 a.m.- Noon
    • Indoors on Field B in the Sports Hall

Age Groups

  • Beginner:
    Boys and Girls 5-9 years old
  • ‚ÄčIntermediate (previous lacrosse experience recommended):
    Boys and Girls 6-10 years old

Program Fee

  • $68 per session
  • Fee balance must be paid with registration

Refund Policy

Refunds are not issued for cancelled registrations. Cancelled registrations can be transferred to a future session.
