Rookie Small Area Games

Designed for boys and girls ages 6-8 with one year minimum hockey experience

Rookies Small Area Games at the Schwan Super Rink brings the game to the kids. This program will provide a variety of small area games: (i.e 1v1 , 2v2, 3v3) that focus on skating, edges and cuts, puck control, passing and shooting.

Program Fee

  • $160 per player
  • Refund up to one week prior to start of session
  • No refund after session starts
  • Twenty skaters required. If the session does not fill, the Schwan Super Rink reserves the right to cancel and a full refund will be given.

Program Staff

Successful player development starts with top level instruction. To ensure this, the NSC Hockey Development program provides its coaches and instructors with a curriculum focused on complete player development.

David K.B. Cole’s SR Bio

David K.B. Cole has been a professional coach for 25 years.  He is native of Amherst, MA and played his college hockey at Williams.  Following graduation, he coached a variety of sports at Joe Espinosa Sports Club in New York City for seven years.  Then in 1998 Coach Cole began an11 year tenure in the NHL, where he led the Fan Development Departments of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Atlanta Thrashers.  In those roles he directed the Lightning and Thrashers hockey camps, roller and street hockey clinics, sled hockey programs and high school hockey initiatives.

In 2009 Coach Cole moved to the Twin Cities.  Since arriving he has been a goalie coach for Eden Prairie High School, the Blake School, St. Paul United, Minneapolis High School, the St. Paul Blades, Minneapolis Storm and Orono Youth Hockey Association.  While at Blake, he was also an Assistant Coach.  At St. Paul United, as the head coach in his inaugural season, Coach Cole guided the club to its first State Tournament appearance in the program’s 20 year history, culminating in a fourth place finish in Class A.

At Super Rink Coach Cole coaches Intro Mites, Rookies, Adult Skills, the U8 division of the Wes Walz Minnesota Wild Hockey Camp, as well as the Minnesota Frost AAA 2006 Blue.

David K.B. Cole is a national goalie coach and evaluator for USA Hockey, a level 5 USA hockey coach and a level 3 USA Hockey official.
