OLYMPIAN COLBY PEARCE TO PRESENT ENDURANCE TRACK CLINICS

Multi-time US National champion, Olympian, Six-Day Racer, and former US National Track Team coach Colby Pearce has committed to racing the Minnesota Fixed Gear Classic, June  11-13. While he is in town, he will be presenting two racing clinics:

Training For Track Endurance

Drawing from his experiences racing with Shaklee, Ofoto, Prime Alliance, TIAA-CREF/Slipstream/Garmin, and the US National Team - Pearce will be presenting a classroom session covering training and racing techniques for the endurance track disciplines (men's and women's points race, scratch race, individual pursuit, madison, team pursuit, and omnium). This will be a classroom session at a location and time TBD. The talk will last about 90 minutes +  an open Q & A session to follow.

Trackside Madison Clinic

Pearce has over 10 years of experience with international level track racing with a focus on points racing and madison racing. He has represented the United States in the madison event at the World Championships six times, as well as numerous World Cups and Six Day Races in Europe. He will present a hands on technical madison clinic and take questions trackside at the NSC Velodrome, with time/date TBD. This clinic can be taken "wet" (meaning you participate in the riding and practice of madison technique) or "dry" (meaning you observe and can ask  questions, but don't ride your bike). The clinic will be a combination of lecture and on track practice of technique and drills to refine technique of exchanges and discuss tactics of madison racing. Madison "certification" NOT required for this clinic, and it is highly recommended for all of the NSC Velodrome's riders who race the Madison event (or are interested in doing so) to attend. This clinic is expected to take about 2 hours including Q & A.

While these clinics are definitely focused on track racing, Pearce's materials may have some interesting crossover and training insights for road racing, particularly criteriums and short time trials, as the training for the those types of events shares some similarities with training for endurance track events. Plus, maybe you're interested in racing at the track and just haven't made it up to Blaine yet.
