Campus Operations Event Worker - Part-Time

Reports to: Campus Operations Managers

Classification: Part-time

Hours: 20-40 Hrs/week

Salary: $12.00-$13.00/hr


Job Description:

The NSC Operations Department is looking for part-time Event Worker to give a great experience to all our customers. Event Workers will take guidance from our managers to maintain buildings, assist in event changeovers, and assist with maintaining a clean campus.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Must be responsible, and able to work with the public efficiently and courteously
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

Sports Facility Monitor

The National Sports Center is looking for individuals to fill the position of Sports Facility monitor.  We are seeking customer service minded individuals.  Must be self – motivated, have excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve.  Individuals with referee credentials are strongly encouraged to apply.  This position is part time with evening and weekend hours.  Resumes can be sent to Mac Gruber at Mgruber@nscsports.org

 

Responsibilities/Duties Include:

•Act as liaison between coaches, players, parents, referees and the NSC staff.

•Greet customers and be available to answer their questions. Provide information about game rules, schedules, waivers, monies owed, NSC events and facility use. Communicate any unresolved questions and concerns with NSC staff.

•Collection of paperwork and payments. Make sure all forms are completed correctly.

•Set up fields to prepare for use. Ensure equipment is in place and ready to use.

•Communicate with referees and verify they are on site. Report no show referees to the Referee Assignor. Help games get started at the scheduled start time.

•Collect and record all game scores.

•Monitor the facility and troubleshoot for problems, notify maintenance of any hazards or issues, help control disorderly children, etc.

•Calmly respond to crisis situations/incidents. Mediate dispute resolution between referees, coaches and players. Follow through by completing incident reports and paperwork.

•Complete site closing duties. Help usher people out of the facility. Collect equipment and return to storage areas. Complete paperwork and summarize day’s events.

About the Opportunity
As a junior developer at the NSC, you’ll be part of a small, agile product team responsible for developing a proprietary Event Management and Registration system used to support all campus events. 

About the Tech Stack
We use a variety of different technologies to best meet the needs of our customers. While our code runs in Azure, we deploy and manage services written in .NET Core 3.0 and C# with a SQL Server database behind them.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop software written on the .NET Core platform
  • Provide input on architectural decisions and have an immediate impact as you will be part of a flat organization that respects the opinion and insights of all team members.
  • Assist testing resources and support personnel as needed to determine the root cause of system problems and provide expedient fixes to bugs as required.
  • Participate in the entire SDLC.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer experience/aptitude in either Computer Science or Information Systems – if you didn’t major in it that isn’t a problem, but you need to have an aptitude for either discipline.
  • Web development using .NET Core and MS SQL Server.
  • JavaScript, HTML, JSON, CSS. Version control using Git.

Would prefer exposure to or the ability to quickly learn (not required but preferred):

  • Basic server administration in a cloud-based environment (Azure).
  • Integration of Authorize.net services
  • SendGrid configuration, best practices, template development
  • Web services development utilizing REST and SOAP
  • SQL Server best practices (high level administration as well as development)
  • Ability to support Classic ASP while migrating to .NET Core 3.0 platform
  • General understanding of good design/layout/CSS is a plus.

Spanish Immersion Camp Internships

The National Sports Center (NSC) and Next Level Spanish Immersion Camp in Blaine, Minnesota is hiring multiple (3) interns for the summer of 2020.

Interns will assist in the administrative organization and delivery of the Next Level Spanish Immersion Camps, a week long day camp for students entering grades 1-6 that are attending a Spanish Immersion schools.  Next Level Spanish Immersion Camp interns must be fluent Spanish speakers.  This internship opportunity is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in K-12 education, or careers where Spanish language fluency is necessary.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Embody National Sports Center mission, vision, and values
  • Supervise camp participants
  • Manage and communicate behavior concerns
  • Run camp activities under supervision of Camp Director and Camp Instructors
  • Daily setup and teardown of program activities
  • Supervise parent pickup and drop off areas
  • Excellent organizational skills and commitment to first-class service are a must.

Start date is July 22. Interns should expect to work 40+ per week. Interns demonstrate a flexible and “How can I help” mindset. Interns MUST be available to work:

  • July 27-31
  • August 3-7
  • August 10-14
  • August 17-21

The last day of the internship will be Friday, August 21st. All positions are available for course credit as approved by your institution. All positions are paid a bi-weekly stipend based on a $12/hourly rate.

Victory Links Golf Course positions

Join a great team this summer at Victory Links Golf Course - the only PGA-Tour designed course open to the public in Minnesota. Positions include:

  • Golf Course Operations (outside service, pro shop, course ambassador, starter, golf instructor) - $11+/hour
  • Next Level Golf Camp Counselor (working with children in our summer camp program) - $15+/hour
  • Beverage Service (concessions, food sales, beverage cart operation) - $11+/hour

Summer Lacrosse Instructors

The NSC is looking for experienced instructors to help grow the sport of lacrosse within our new development programs! 

  • Intro to Lacrosse Instructor -

Our Intro program is designed to introduce the sport of lacrosse to young new athletes in a fun and exciting way.  Please contact Logan for more information and session dates. 

 

  • Next Level Lacrosse Instructor - 

Lacrosse will be joining our Next Level program this summer. The Next Level Lacrosse program is an all day lacrosse camp that is run weekly from June-August in 2020. Players experience skill building and lacrosse training paired with weekly field trips and different events.The NSC is looking for qualified instructors and coaches to help facilitate this program throughout the summer months. Adult Flag Football Official

The NSC is looking for quality officials for our Adult Flag Football League.  The league plays a 6v6 format with two officials.  Officials do not need to be certified but some experience in football officiating is required.  All games are played on the National Sports Center campus.  League games are played Thursdays at 9, 10, and 11pm.

Ice Resurfacer Operator (Zamboni Driver)

The NSC Super Rink is looking for part-time Ice Resufacer Operators to give a great experience to all of our customers. Operators will take guidance from our managers and supervisors to maintain the building, resurface the ice on time according to schedule, assist with maintaining the equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the building.

  • Must be responsible, and able to work with the public efficiently and courteously

Equipment Operator - Field and Turf maintenance

The National Sports Center is seeking applicants for the 2020 summer outdoor season to assist in the maintenance and setup of our outdoor sports fields and golf course. This includes over 50 full-sized outdoor soccer fields, an 18-hole golf course and more.

Equipment Operator - Field and turf maintenance

Reports To:  Golf Course Superintendent and Head Groundskeeper

Directly Manages:  Maintains all Golf Course and Sports Field Areas

Classification:  Full Time, Seasonal, Non Exempt

Hours:  40 Hours/Week with some Weekends and Overtime

Salary:  $13.00 - $14.00/Hour depending on experience and qualifications

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

  • Responsible for the daily setup of the golf course and sports fields.
  • Responsible for mowing and maintaining high quality turf.
  • Assist in irrigation maintenance.
  • Assist in marking and painting various sports fields.
  • Responsible for mulching, weeding, and pruning landscape beds, shrubs, and trees.
  • Responsible for hand trimming.
  • Responsible for seeding and sodding projects.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment and maintenance facility.
  • Performs any assigned duty before, during, and after an event.
  • Performs related work as required and as directed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of golf course and sports field maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper use of safety practices.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions to complete work assignments correctly and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including standing, sitting, kneeling, and bending for an extended period of time, under various conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and employees within all departments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

 

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Previous experience on a golf course or sports field, but not required.
  • Knowledge and safe operation of maintenance equipment or ability to learn.

Equipment Technician- Victory Links / National Sports Center

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Equipment Manager, Director of Turf, or Golf Course Superintendent the Equipment Technician assists and/or works independently repairing and maintaining various gasoline and diesel-powered golf course maintenance equipment. The Equipment Technician also assists in maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building, contributing to a preventive maintenance program, and places safety procedures as a top priority.

  • Inspects, diagnoses, adjusts and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment, on a regular basis.
  • Help lead mechanic complete major repairs.
  • Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedure.
  • Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.

Qualifications:

Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for extended periods of time.


Hourly Wage:

$20/hour. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance. 403b retirement plan.

Hospitality Concessions & Catering Associate

Position Information

  • Entry Level: $11/hr - $12/hr
  • Hours Per Week: Varies based on-campus events
  • Location: All Campus Concession/Catering
  • Customer Service, Kitchen and concession experience preferred but not required

The schedule will vary based on events, including evenings and weekends.

Position Description

The National Sports Center is looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with an outgoing personality, hard work ethic, a clean/neat and professional appearance, and can provide excellent customer service. This individual will be a representation of the National Sports Center

Position Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Taking, assembling, and presenting food orders
  • Operating a cash register and requesting/receiving payment from customers
  • Cooking and preparing food – standing and constant moving
  • Assist in various food areas to ensure food and concessions are being prepared and packaged properly, and being delivered to the customer in a timely manner
  • Stocking concessions trailers and/or food or vendor stands
  • Assist in inventory counts to help with proper stock and rotation
  • Cleaning in accordance with the National Sports Center sanitary standards Associate will be trained in multiple areas within the concessions and catering position

Position Qualifications

  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 25 pounds and the ability to stand for long periods of time in a fast-paced environment
  • With training, ability to operate kitchen and concessions equipment such as popcorn popper, hotdog machine, kitchen ovens, etc.
  • Experience preferred but not necessary
