Public Relations/Content Specialist

Public Relations/Content Specialist

Join the National Sports Center’s Integrated Marketing team.   You will have the opportunity to actively engage in shaping the brand of the National Sports Center and its properties. 

Job Summary:  As Public Relations/Content Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with local and industry media outlets nationwide and interact with internal teams and external partners.  You will be a primary contributor to our content featured on our digital and social media channels. 

You will focus on providing media relations support, including building and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, and producers to effectively pitch and fulfill stories. As a Public Relations Specialist, you will be involved in both proactive and reactive media relations.   As a Content Specialist you will have the opportunity to tell the stories of the National Sports Center and the events that take place on our campus.  This person will assist in creating strategic communication plans for a variety of cross-functional projects in partnership with both internal and external partners.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects, be a skilled storyteller, have a passion for interacting with reporters and be able to quickly understand topics/issues and how to translate into news for both the media and the general public.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Media relations for local and industry specific outlets
  • Content creation for website, blog, email marketing and social media
  • Proactive and reactive support for PR activations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to find, strategize and tell NSC stories
  • Communicate with external partners around a variety of PR activations
  • Communication planning and project management

    Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ year of public relations and communications experience
  • 1+ year writing content and strategic communication planning
  • 1+ year developing and managing projects with stakeholders


    Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Business
  • Experience with meeting aggressive daily and weekly deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment, working on assignments with overlapping priorities and schedules, and experience with confidentiality
  • Ability to find, create and tell meaningful stories through a variety of channels (visual and written)
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud and Wordpress preferred

Campus Maintenance Manager

Campus Maintenance Manager 
Operational duties included but not limited to: All aspects of the NSC building maintenance functions including major and minor mechanical operations. Majority of the job function will be in the Super Rink to oversee refrigeration ice plant and HVAC controls.

The maintenance manager will also plan and execute an NSC campus wide preventative maintenance on all equipment and HVAC controls.  This position will maintain, document and assist with energy management, capital preservation and event management throughout the NSC campus.  

The campus maintenance manager is accountable to the Ice Arena Operations Manager and Director of Operations.  Send resume, cover letter and salary requirements to:

Victory Links Golf Course positions

Join a great team this summer at Victory Links Golf Course - the only PGA-Tour designed course open to the public in Minnesota. Positions include:

  • Golf Course Operations (outside service, pro shop, course ambassador, starter, golf instructor) - $11+/hour
  • Next Level Golf Camp Counselor (working with children in our summer camp program) - $15+/hour
  • Beverage Service (concessions, food sales, beverage cart operation) - $11+/hour
  • Grill Cook (grilling, cooking and food prep) - $15+/hour

Ice Resurfacer Operator (Zamboni Driver)

The NSC Super Rink is looking for part-time Ice Resufacer Operators to give a great experience to all of our customers. Operators will take guidance from our managers and supervisors to maintain the building, resurface the ice on time according to schedule, assist with maintaining the equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the building.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Must be responsible, and able to work with the public efficiently and courteously
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

Equipment Operator - Field and Turf maintenance

The National Sports Center is seeking applicants for the 2019 summer outdoor season to assist in the maintenance and setup of our outdoor sports fields and golf course. This includes over 50 full-sized outdoor soccer fields, an 18-hole golf course and more.

Equipment Operator - Field and turf maintenance

Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent and Head Grounds Keeper
Classification: Full time, seasonal, non-exempt
Hours: 40 hours/week with some weekends and overtime
Salary: $12/hr - $13/hr

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Mowing and maintaining high-quality turf, including seeding, sodding and trimming
  • Daily setup and maintenance of the golf course and sports fields, including raking bunkers, and marking and painting sports fields
  • Mulching, weeding and pruning landscape beds, shrubs, and trees
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and maintenance facility
  • Additional facility event setup duties, as assigned

Knowledge, abilities, and skills needed for this position:

  • Knowledge of golf course and sports field maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper use of safety practices
  • Ability to operate various pieces of maintenance equipment
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions to complete work assignments correctly and efficiently
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including standing, sitting, kneeling, and bending for an extended period of time, under various conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and snow
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and employees within all departments
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required

Experience and training:

  • Previous experience in golf course or field maintenance a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge and safe operation of field maintenance equipment, including industrial mowers and hand trimmers or ability to learn

Hospitality Concessions & Catering Associate

Position Information

  • Entry Level: $11/hr - $12/hr
  • Hours Per Week: Varies based on-campus events
  • Location: All Campus Concession/Catering
  • Customer Service, Kitchen and concession experience preferred but not required

Schedule

The schedule will vary based on events, including evenings and weekends.

Position Description

The National Sports Center is looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with an outgoing personality, hard work ethic, a clean/neat and professional appearance, and can provide excellent customer service. This individual will be a representation of the National Sports Center

Position Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Taking, assembling, and presenting food orders
  • Operating a cash register and requesting/receiving payment from customers
  • Cooking and preparing food – standing and constant moving
  • Assist in various food areas to ensure food and concessions are being prepared and packaged properly, and being delivered to the customer in a timely manner
  • Stocking concessions trailers and/or food or vendor stands
  • Assist in inventory counts to help with proper stock and rotation
  • Cleaning in accordance with the National Sports Center sanitary standards Associate will be trained in multiple areas within the concessions and catering position

Position Qualifications

  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 25 pounds and the ability to stand for long periods of time in a fast-paced environment
  • With training, ability to operate kitchen and concessions equipment such as popcorn popper, hotdog machine, kitchen ovens, etc.
  • Experience preferred but not necessary
