As many of you are aware, the City of Blaine has been in the process of designing and bidding the reconstruction of 105th Ave NE through the NSC campus. Here is an update on this project, with information provided by the City of Blaine.

Work has already begun to relocate utilities along the north side of 105th Ave NE.

You may have noticed some work already underway. Centerpoint Energy has installed a new main on the north side of 105th and will be finished in a week or so. Connexus Energy is also installing new underground wires. They will be removing all overhead poles along the corridor.

Project timeline before winter:

Here is a time line of critical activities that will occur in the remainder of 2017.

  1. Shift traffic to the north side and remove pavement on the south side.
  2. Install underground utilities on the south side.
  3. Install concrete curbing on the south side.
  4. Shape gravel base and lay asphalt on the south side.
  5. Replace a water main on the north side.
  6. Project will be suspended in the winter.

Access on 105th:

There will be one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of the project. During the first phase, traffic will be shifted to the north lanes while the south lanes are being reconstructed. In the second phase traffic will be shifted to the south side while work is done on the north lanes.

Access to all businesses, including the NSC, will be maintained during construction.
