Here is the September 13 update on 105th Ave NE construction, and how it affects the NSC campus. The technical information is provided by the City of Blaine.
This week the contractor is replacing the storm sewer at the main entrance to the National Sport Center. The access road onto the NSC campus will be reopened Thursday.
Customers needing to access the Schwan Super Rink and other NSC facilities south of 105th will find two access points off Davenport St. -- 1) near the new parking lot south of the Velodrome, and 2) on the north side of the Velodrome through the school construction site.
The contractor will continue to install storm sewer on the south side heading east. Areas of the south side are being graded in preparation of the placement of aggregate base. Private utilities will be removing poles from the north side this week.
Next week’s schedule is to finish the storm sewer on the south side and finish grading the aggregate base in preparation of the concrete curb and gutter.
The City reminds drivers that 105th Ave NE is posted for 30mph for the entire length of the project. The police department has been asked to monitor the corridor as it appears traffic is driving over the posted speed limit.
In this photo taken September 13, the contractor is installing new storm sewer along the south side of 105th Ave NE. This project has necessitated the temporary closure of the access road to the Schwan Super Rink from 105th, but the road will be reopened.
