The Stick it to Cancer Tournament is a fundraising tournament to support the fight against breast cancer.

100% of proceeds from this event are donated to the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota.

The Stick it to Cancer Hockey Tournament is a benefit to support the fight against breast cancer. We started this event in 1999. Each team volunteers a combined total of six hours, and all referees donate their time to tournament operations, resulting in an even larger donation to cancer research.

Thank you to all of our participating teams! The 2018 Tournament was a huge success and we proudly made a donation in the amount of $61,009 to the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota.

Volunteer Opportunities

Each team is asked to provide one volunteer to work in the score box at each of their games. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Contact Tournament Director for more information on volunteers, donations, sponsorship and vendors. We're working on trying to cover all the game for timekeeping and announcing however we may need your help.

Tournament Features

  • Helps support the fight against breast cancer
  • Three-game schedule for women's divisions
  • Four-game schedule for youth AAA divisions
  • All games at state-of-the-art Schwan Super Rink

There will be a lot of fun activities going on throughout the weekend!

  • Bake Sale on Saturday from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
  • Silent Auction will be running from Friday at 5 p.m. through Saturday at 9 p.m. 
  • Raffle drawing will be held Saturday at 8 p.m.  Ticket sales will start Friday at 5 p.m.
  • Opening Ceremonies Saturday from 12:45 p.m.-1:30 p.m.

We ask that all teams be a part of the 3rd annual Opening Ceremony! Teams will be announced as they walk onto the ice.  We will provide a banner with your team name and who you are playing for or in honor of.

Celebrity game: Saturday 1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. (Olympians, current and retired Division 1 and Division III athletes). Come watch this FREE event!

Divisions Offered and Player Eligibility

Youth Association  

  • U12A  July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007
  • U12B   July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007

Youth AAA Tier I and Tier II

  • U16  (2002 & 2003)
  • College Division (For current college teams)

Women (based on WHAM divisions)

  • Women's A (Almost all players recent Division I/Division 3 hockey graduates, high school varsity)

  • Women's BI (Junior Varsity High School)
  • Women's BII (Limited HS or training in hockey)
  • Women's BIII (Limited HS or training in hockey)
  • Women's CI (Limited HS or training in hockey)
  • Women's CII (Beginner Players)
  • Women's CIII (Beginner Skaters)

Adult Coed

  • Single Open Division- 18+. Minimum 2 women on the ice at all times (excludes goalie)

Tournament Fees

  • AAA youth teams: $1,375
  • College: $735
  • Adult: $735
  • NEW  Adult Coed Division  $735 
    Single Open Division- 18+. Minimum 2 women on the ice at all times (excludes goalie) 

Refund Policy:  No refunds will be given to teams dropping inside 30 days of tournament start date.  

USA Hockey Registration Information - Adults

Our adult women's divisions will be sanctioned through USA Hockey.  

What does this mean?

  • Each player from your respective team must register with USA Hockey to participate in the event.
  • USA Hockey registration in MN is $41 per player. *Other states may vary on fees due to their home state.
