This tournament is all about fun and celebrating the nation we know and love. Come play some hockey while doing your best Joe Dirt impression, wearing some denim, and growing a mullet. Heck Yeah Brother!

Tournament Features

Divisions Offered

  • Men's A Division: very competitive, former junior, college or pro
  • Men's B Division: fast and exciting division for players with advanced skills, just a bit older now, former high school Varsity, junior or college experience
  • Men's C Division: fun and challenging, now older and just like to play, former high school experience
  • Men's CII Division:  Good mix of older high level players as well as younger newer players
  • Men's D Division: fun division for teams with a little less experience
  • Women's A: very competitive, high level players
  • Women’s B: high school varsity, junior varsity, and college club experience
  • Women’s C: fun division for teams with novice skill abilities
  • ALL players must be 18 or older to play
  • Please have your players fill out their tournament waivers promptly. Their is a ranking system attached to the waivers that will allow your team to be matched with those at a similar competitive level. 

Game Start Times

  • Friday earliest start time is 5 p.m. and latest game start time is 10:30 p.m.
  • Saturday earliest start time is 8 a.m. and latest game start time is 10:15 p.m.
  • Sunday earliest start time is 8 a.m. and latest game start time is 4 p.m.

Tournament Fees

Tournament fees $725 per team full fee due at time of registration 
Please note: only teams are accepted, no individual applications.

No refunds if the team drops 45 days prior to the start of the event. 

Event Cancellation Policy: The following policy will be enacted IF an event hosted by the National Sports Center MUST be canceled by the directives of the State of Minnesota or the Minnesota Department of Health. Please know that our top priority on making decisions moving forward will be the safety and health of our players, coaches, referees, employees, and fans.  The Team registration refunds will be processed at 100% of the registration total. Refunds will be credited to your account no later than December 31, 2021.

We are excited to offer you a new player pool experience at NSC Event HQ! 
As a new user you will need to set up an NSC Event HQ account (must be 18 or older.) Only need one account per household.

  • Once you create your account and verify your email, you will need to verify your email to set up a password.
  • Then you can add "participants" to your account  for which you can complete waivers, sign up for programs and register for the player pool
  • You only need to set up a household account once, Future events are smooth and easy. You simply click, add, and you’re done!
  • Interested coaches will contact you directly by email.
  • If you are picked up by a team:
    • Remove your name from the player pool for this event by logging in to your NSC Event HQ, find your event pool and select “Leave Pool”

 

Tournament Rules

  • Four minute warm-up
  • Clock starts when Zamboni doors close. Be ready.
  • Three-17 minute running time periods.
    • Stop time will be used during the last two minutes of the third period if game is within 3 goals.
      • The team trailing is required to stop/start the clock during the final two minutes.
      • The home team is required to stop/start the clock if the game is tied.
    • Offsides: All players must tag up before entering the zone to play the puck
    • Red Line Icing
    • Penalties: Player must go to penalty box; time will start at the drop of the puck. Time will run during stoppage of play.
    • Three penalty rule. Any player receiving three penalties in one game will be removed for the remainder of the game.
    • No timeouts
    • The home team, listed on the top or the left side of the bracket will wear white
  • Teams are required to have similar jerseys all of the same color and all

Jerseys must have a number.

  • All players must have an Ironman Helmet Sticker visible on their helmet.
    • Players without a helmet sticker will be removed from the ice immediately
  • Rosters are frozen at team check-in.
    • Players may not be added to the roster after team check-in
  • No double rostering
    • Players may play for only one team. Exception: Goaltenders
  • No checking – all levels
    • Minor penalty assessed for checking infractions
    • Coincidental penalties – teams skate full strength
  • Slap Shots are allowed.
  • Fighting
    • 5 min major, game ejection, plus one game suspension
    • Instigator: A 2 minute penalty may be assessed to player who “started” the fight
  • Referees
    • Two officials are scheduled for all games
    • Players are not allowed to confront the officials
    • Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.

Tournament Format

  • Round robin format will be used for all divisions
    • Teams will play Teams in their division and the top two teams based on points will advance to the Championship game.
      • Two pts for a win, 1 pt for a tie
  • Tie break procedure         
    • Head to head
    • Most wins
    • Fewest goals against
    • Goals scored
    • Most shutouts
    • Ironball
    • Coin toss
  • OVERTIME  (Semi-final, and Championship Games only)
    • Overtime will consist of a 5 min running time sudden death period of 4v4 hockey.
      • If still tied, OT will be followed by a three player shootout, visiting team shoots first.
      • If still tied, teams alternate with one shooter until an advantage is held. No player may shoot a second time until all players have shot once.

Registration deadline is February 19th, 2020 or when bracket fills.
